Sesamin Complex (Sesamum indicum)

Sesame

Sesamum indicum (syn. Sesamum orientale), the source of sesame seeds is an annual plant. The fruit is an oblong capsule with small oval yellowish seeds.

Active Principle:

The major ingredients are sesamin(a ligan),sesamol(a phenolic derivative)and  sesamolin. The seeds are exceptionally rich in iron, magnesium, manganese, copper, and calcium. They also contain vitamin B1 (thiamine) and vitamin E (tocopherol).

Clinical Uses:

  • It has been used as a dietary fat-reduction supplement.
  • Increases fat oxidation and decreases lipogensis
  • Acts as an antihypertensive
  • Acts as an antioxidant itself and increase the recycling of vitamin E
  • Provide liver protection against alcohol and improves liver function
  • Decreases cholesterol levels, while increasing high density lipoprotein (HDL or "good cholesterol") levels
  • Acts as an anti-inflammatory agent

Available as Plant Extract standardized to 95% Sesamin Complex.
